Workflows and Availability
BooksPlus organizes work by what the user is trying to accomplish. Product scope and current desktop availability are different:
- Available means the current desktop has a supported entry point for the stated work.
- Partially available means a supported part is visible, while other parts still depend on later desktop work.
- Implemented, not exposed means application or domain behavior exists but users do not yet have a supported desktop entry point.
- Accepted, not implemented means binding product direction exists but its contract or implementation is incomplete.
- Deferred means the capability is outside BooksPlus 1.0 scope.
The canonical word active means a workflow is part of initial-release scope.
It does not mean the workflow is available in the current desktop.
Current availability map
| Workflow area | Current desktop availability | What that means now |
|---|---|---|
| Setup & Onboarding | Available | Company creation and selection, administrator bootstrap, company reselection, readiness-driven reviewed subjects, fiscal-calendar setup, all three chart paths, collision review, required-role repair, permission review, both opening-balance dispositions, the completion summary, and the revalidated Enter Current Period handoff are visible. Final production role administration and QBO replacement remain separate release work. |
| Current Period Workbench | Available | Users can review current-period readiness, existing Summary batches, source documents, posted entries, exceptions, supporting detail, and manual journal entries. |
| Accounting file intake and batch review | Partially available | Existing Summary batches can be reviewed and posted through the desk. File intake and duplicate/conflict decisions do not have a supported desktop entry point. |
| Ledger Review | Available | The company-wide Ledger reloads posted entries, groups each entry with its debit-first account-bearing lines, and opens source and audit Support Detail. |
| Sales and Receivables Summary | Implemented, not exposed | Income, sales-tax capability/preparation, durable return-control, remittance-posting, and Finance-match services exist, but users cannot use them through a supported desktop workflow. |
| Purchasing and Payables Summary | Implemented, not exposed | Purchasing, Payables, contractor, and information-return services are not wired into desktop navigation. |
| Inventory Summary | Implemented, not exposed | Inventory period-summary services are not wired into desktop navigation. |
| Banking and Finance Summary | Implemented, not exposed | Finance preparation, posting, and non-posting review services are not wired into desktop navigation. |
| Corrections | Implemented, not exposed | Reversal and adjustment services and review exist, but the desktop has no supported correction entry point. |
| Period Close | Implemented, not exposed | Canonical CloseRun processing and review exist behind services. The visible legacy fiscal-calendar close buttons are not the supported canonical workflow and are not documented as an operating path. |
| Reporting | Partially available | A live trial balance is visible. Balance sheet, income statement, captured ReportRuns, currentness, and report drilldown are not wired into desktop navigation. |
| QBO controlled cutover | Implemented, not exposed | The bounded replacement-scenario conversion services exist, but there is no supported desktop conversion path. |
| Sales Tax and Remittance | Implemented, not exposed | Capability profiles, owned results, Sales preparation, durable return control, remittance posting, the non-posting Finance match, and five canonical Close checks exist behind services. Desktop workflow and UAT are incomplete. |
What remains in external systems
BooksPlus 1.0 accounts for reviewed summaries from operational activity. It does not replace operational sales orders, customer invoicing, purchasing, payment execution, bank feeds, detailed reconciliation execution, item and warehouse operations, or perpetual inventory.
Operational systems continue to own that detail. BooksPlus preserves the reviewed accounting facts, evidence, posting results, corrections, close control, and formal reports once the applicable supported workflow is exposed.
Deferred areas
BooksPlus 1.0 defers broader payroll accounting, general tax compliance, budgeting, funding workflows, capital projects, fixed assets, automated closing entries, recurring entries, configurable statements, full-history conversion, and recurring QBO synchronization. Contractor and Form 1099-NEC support and the bounded seller-owned sales-tax scope do not activate broader Payroll or Compliance workflows.
The guide will add task procedures only after the owning desktop workflow and its blocked, recovery, and review paths are available and verified.
