Banking and Finance Summary
Banking and Finance Summary records summarized cash, bank, credit-card, clearing, and reconciliation results while detailed banking operations remain in the operational system.
Current desktop availability
Banking and Finance preparation, posting, and non-posting review behavior is implemented behind services, but it is not wired into current desktop navigation. This page describes BooksPlus 1.0 scope and accounting boundaries, not a procedure users can perform now. The sales-tax bank-link extension is implemented behind services but is likewise not exposed.
Workflow family placement: Operating Transaction Capture / Cash & banking.
This workflow links to related Sales and Purchasing activity without posting those source events again. For example, a bank deposit may clear a receipts-for-deposit balance created by Sales and Receivables Summary. An invoice reference on a payment explains its source or reason; it does not create another invoice.
When Purchasing has already posted a vendor payment directly to the bank, the later bank-statement match normally changes reconciliation state without another journal entry. Fees, interest, exchange differences, and discrepancies are separate Finance events.
Under the accepted sales-tax boundary, BooksPlus records an approved seller-owned remittance through central Accounting after the payment is completed externally. Banking and Finance may later preserve a non-posting statement match to that entry; it does not initiate the tax payment. The exact match and its Close-check handoff are implemented behind services. The workflow remains unavailable until desktop implementation and UAT are complete.
Initial release boundary
BooksPlus preserves reviewed closing balances, reconciliation evidence, source identity, links, and posted journal references. It does not own bank-feed operation, deposit composition, payment instruments, credit-card activity, or detailed reconciliation execution.
BillCatcher is deferred beyond the initial release.
