User Guide Overview

This guide explains what you can do in the current BooksPlus desktop, what to prepare before you begin, and which BooksPlus 1.0 workflows are still being connected to supported screens.

Current desktop availability

The current desktop supports a startup path through company creation and selection, initial production-administrator confirmation, fiscal-calendar and starter-chart setup, current-period review, manual journal posting, Ledger review and drilldown, existing Summary batch review, and a live trial balance.

Some capabilities described in BooksPlus product scope are implemented behind application services but do not yet have a supported desktop entry point. Others are accepted or planned but not implemented. Use Workflows and Availability to distinguish these states. A workflow being part of the initial release does not by itself mean that it is available in the current desktop.

Start with available work

  1. Read Getting Started for the shortest verified path.
  2. Use Getting Organized to prepare responsibilities, policies, source documents, and review routines.
  3. Continue with Company Setup and the currently supported parts of Chart of Accounts.
  4. Use the Current Period Workbench for manual entries, existing Summary batches, registers, exceptions, and supporting detail.
  5. Confirm posted entries and their lines in Ledger Review.
  6. Use Reporting and Trial Balance for the live trial balance currently exposed in the desktop.

The setup and task pages identify where their broader procedures depend on a later desktop slice.

Product scope and later guides

The following areas belong to BooksPlus 1.0 scope or have implemented service foundations, but their full operating guides must wait for supported desktop workflows:

  • accounting-file intake and workflow-specific Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, and Banking and Finance entry;
  • Corrections and duplicate/conflict review;
  • canonical Period Close;
  • balance sheet, income statement, and captured report review;
  • QBO controlled cutover; and
  • detailed sales-tax return and remittance control.

Their current pages explain scope and boundaries, not steps that can be performed in the current desktop. Operational sales, purchasing, payments, banking, and perpetual inventory remain in external systems for the initial release.
