Reporting and Trial Balance
The current desktop exposes one live formal report: the trial balance. It is calculated from posted journal-entry lines for the selected company and date range.
Run the live trial balance
- Open Fiscal Calendar.
- In Trial Balance, enter the inclusive start and end dates as
yyyy-mm-dd. Setup or period actions may have populated a range; verify it before running the report. - Choose Run Trial Balance.
- Read the status message and review every account row.
The rows show account code, name, company currency, debit activity, credit activity, net debit balance, and net credit balance. An account with activity remains represented even when its net balance is zero.
Interpret the result
- Trial balance is balanced means debit and credit activity and net-balance totals agree for the displayed currency.
- No posted activity means the date range is valid but contains no posted lines.
- Trial balance is unavailable means a visible blocker prevents a formal result. Correct the parameters or the underlying accounting/configuration; do not override the report output.
The range uses inclusive company-local posting dates. Draft manual entries, unposted Summary batches, validation issues, and operational-system records do not affect the report. Posted reversals and adjustments would participate by their own posting dates; they never rewrite the original entry.
A balanced trial balance is an accounting check, not proof that setup, reconciliation, evidence review, or Period Close is complete.
Current desktop boundary
Balance sheet and income statement calculation, immutable RR- ReportRun
capture and review, report currentness, captured-line drilldown, and Close
report-pack handoff exist behind application services but do not have supported
desktop entry points. The current screen also does not print or export reports.
Do not treat the live trial balance as a captured historical report or as the canonical Period Close workflow. Use Ledger Review to trace the posted entries visible in the current desktop.
